The music
that we sell and why
:
There is a growing
number of people whom feel that today’s market is saturated too much
from the likes of “Pop Idol” and “Fame Academy”, with the music
industry as a whole pouring money into manufactured pop groups that
will sell them number 1 ‘s. The exception being the usual mainstream
groups e.g. “Bon Jovi”,” Def Leppard” or even “Whitesnake” (that are
now touring again). In our opinion, there is not much real talent around. Hence the
revival of music from the 1960’s, 70’s and 80’s, and the growth in
demand for shops such as “Jamming With Edward”. Here, customers can
find recordings by “Led Zeppelin”, “Crosby Stills and Nash”, “Emerson
Lake and Palmer”, “Pink Floyd”, “The Hollies”, “Small Faces”, “George
Harrison”, and “Yes”, to name but a few of these truly talented
artists.
Our policy for buying-in records
(customers orders only now)
is
quite strict. They must be complete with nothing missing. We want to
make sure that we will get a good name for the
business. People do not want to buy rubbish - for that they can go to
car boot sales. The best way to obtain good stock of second-hand goods
was (when we had the shop) either by “over-the-counter” purchases, or going to the houses of
people, who are getting rid of their unwanted record collections. We
will also use trade accounts with national suppliers for new stock. If a
customer can not afford an original album, for let’s say £45, we
might, say,
obtain a new one in for selling at around £14 to £22. We will try and
get people to buy vinyl, and experience the unique sound quality that you can
not normally obtain from a cd (compact disc). However, if they do not want the
vinyl version, then we will be sourcing stock of complete back
catalogues on cd format. As we no longer hold stock, our
customers requests will be ordered in for them, and despatched by
secure post, where possible. (Always subject to availability).
We list below the range of music that we intend to sell online, and promote with both sales techniques and advertisement.
American West Cost sound – “Jefferson Airplane” and “The
Byrd’s”, and then just in general, “Crosby Stills and Nash”, “Canned
Heat”, “The Eagles”, “Ten Years After”, “Credence Clear Water
Revival”, “The Doors”, and so on .
Then there is the progressive rock sound, - “Yes”, “Deep
Purple”, “Colisseum”, “Pink Floyd”, “Curved Air”, “Manfred Mann Earth
Band”, “Jethro Tull” ,”Focus”, “David Bowie”, ”Roxy Music”, “The Moody
Blues”, “Steve Hillage”, “Rick Wakemen”, “The Nice”, “Emerson Lake and
Palmer”, “Alan Parson”, project and so on.
Other Artists like “James Brown”, “Chuck Berry”, “Eric
Clapton”, “The Hollies” “Small Faces”, “Rod Stewart and the Faces”,
would also be included.
It is our policy
to both sell and promote music by the artists above online. However, we will still sell music from the new and upcoming
bands that have been around for a while, such as “Travis”, “Oasis”,
“Blur”, “Ocean Colour Scene” , etc.
The biggest
sections that have proven to be most popular are “Hard Rock/ “Heavy
Metal” and “Progressive Rock”. This is an area we will be expanding at
first.
